Jasprit Bumrah and Ben Stokes have been ruled out of the India and England teams for the series-deciding fifth Test in London. Cricket Australia has named Australia’s entire squad for the upcoming home series against South Africa. In other news, the India Champions team has reportedly boycotted the semifinal match against Pakistan Champions in the WCL 2025 season.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Wednesday, July 30.

Jasprit Bumrah Reportedly Out Of 5th Test Vs England

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly been ruled out of the fifth Test against England as part of his workload management. The speedster was reportedly advised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team to take a rest in a bid to safeguard his back amid injury concerns.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled 33 overs in India’s fourth Test of the series against England at Old Trafford in Manchester, thus extending his overall series tally to a hectic 120 overs in just three matches.

Ben Stokes And Archer Out, Pope To Lead England

England captain Ben Stokes was ruled out of the playing XI for the series-deciding fifth Test against India at The Oval owing to his right shoulder injury. The English team management also excluded Liam Dawson and fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse to make four changes in the playing XI.

With series on the line, the English team will be led by Ollie Pope in the absence of Stokes. Jacob Bethell, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and Josh Tongue will be making their respective returns to the England team as replacements.

Travis Head Returns, Owen In As AUS Name Squad For SA Series

Cricket Australia has named Australia’s 14-player squads for the upcoming T20I and ODI home series against South Africa next month. Mitchell Owen is on course for his ODI debut, and senior men Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood will be making their return to the team after missing a segment of the West Indies series in the Caribbean.

Mitchell Marsh will be leading both teams as regular captain Pat Cummins and fellow senior paceman Mitchell Starc have been rested.

The Australian team will be facing South Africa at home in three T20Is and three ODI matches between August 10 and August 24.

India Champions Pull Out Of WCL 2025: Report

The India Champions team has reportedly pulled out of their semifinal clash against Pakistan Champions in the WCL 2025 season. It is worth noting that India Champions also cancelled their earlier match of the tournament against Pakistan citing the prevailing geo-political tensions between the two countries.

In case of a boycott, the Pakistan Champions team will qualify into the finals for finishing higher on the points table earlier in the season. The match was originally scheduled to be played in Birmingham on Thursday, July 31.

Ayush Mhatre, Suryavanshi Named In India’s U19 Tour Of AUS

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named a 17-player India Under-19 squad for the upcoming tour of Australia. CSK star Ayush Mhatre, who led the India Under-19 team in England earlier this month, will be reprising his role and will be accompanied by fellow IPL luminary Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Vihaan Malhotra was once again named as India’s vice-captain for the tour. The India Under-19 team will face Australia in three Youth ODIs and two four-day matches between September 21 and October 10.
