The Australian team completed a 5-0 series sweep over the West Indies with a win in the fifth T20I in Basseterre. In other news, the KKR franchise has parted ways with its head coach Chandrakant Pandit.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Tuesday, July 29.

Australia Blank WI 5-0, Fall Below India For Big Record

Australia blanked West Indies 5-0 in the T20I series by consigning the hosts to a three-wicket defeat in the fifth T20I in Basseterre. Ben Dwarshuis picked up figures of 3-41 and Nathan Ellis chipped in with two scalps as Australia limited West Indies to 170 in 19.4 overs. Chasing 171, Tim David (30 off 12) and Mitchell Owen (37 off 17) smeared explosive 30s to negate Akeal Hosein’s three-wicket threat as Australia won the match with three overs to spare.

With Australia winning all eight matches of the tour, they fell just below Team India for the world record of notching up the highest number of wins in a single overseas bilateral trip without losing a single game.

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav will likely be making his return to the Indian playing XI for the upcoming fifth Test of the series against England. According to a report from Sahil Malhotra of Times of India, the Indian team management is considering to recall Kuldeep into the XI in place of all-rounder Shardul Thakur. The report also added that Akash Deep will also likely return to the team in the fifth Test after missing the fourth match at Old Trafford in Manchester owing to an injury.

KKR Parts Ways With Head Coach Chandrakant Pandit After IPL 2025

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise has parted ways with head coach Chandrakant Pandit in the wake of a disappointing IPL 2025 season earlier this year. Under Pandit’s guidance, the Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR team finished eighth on the points table.

He was first appointed for the top KKR role back in August 2022. While KKR finished seventh in his maiden IPL season in 2023, they won the title after a gap of 10 years during the 2024 edition of the tournament, doing so under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

Tom Latham Ruled Out Of 1st Test Vs ZIM, Santner To Lead

New Zealand Test captain Tom Latham has been ruled out of the first match of the series against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. While the cricketer has suffered a shoulder injury, he will still remain a part of the New Zealand squad in Zimbabwe and could potentially play the second Test. In Latham’s absence, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has named spin-bowling all-rounder and white-ball skipper Mitchell Santner as interim captain of the team. Santner will be leading the New Zealand Test team for the first time in his career through the match.
