Kane Williamson, the star New Zealand batter, who has been bought by Karachi Kings for PSL 2025 is all set to miss initial five matches of his team. The news has been confirmed by Karachi Kings and Ary Digital owner, Salam Iqbal. It is a big blow for the franchise who are looking to start afresh under the leadership of David Warner after the disappointment of the 2024 season.
Kane Williamson's Absence Raises Questions Over His Injury And IPL Commitments
The reason of Kane Williamson's unavailability is still unknown, but there are speculations that he would be missing five matches due to his commentary commitments in IPL. Also, the quad strain he suffered during the final of Champions Trophy 2025 could also be the reason of his absence. He recently missed T20I and ODI series against Pakistan and has been battling injuries on regular basis in the last few years.
Thus, with Kane Williamson set to miss five matches, he would most likely be available from the game against Quetta Gladiators which will be played on April 25. He went unsold in PSL 2025 draft initially but was then bought by the Kings in the supplementary round.
Karachi Kings Look To Start Afresh Under David Warner
Karachi Kings have a change in leadership this time around with David Warner leading the pack and along with Kane Williamson, Tim Seifert and Adam Milne are the two Kiwis in their side. They finished fifth in the last edition and would be hoping for change in fortunes in PSL10.
Karachi Kings will start off their campaign against Multan Sultans on April 12 in the first double-header day of PSL 2025.
