Bangladesh's pace bowling stocks take a hit as star pacer Ebadot Hossain is out of the upcoming T20 World Cup in June. The fast bowler remains sidelined due to his knee surgery last August.

Ebadot tore his ACL during an ODI series against Afghanistan in 2023, forcing him to miss both the Asia Cup and the World Cup. Bangladesh Cricket Board's doctor confirmed this on Wednesday, despite Ebadot 's hopes for a T20 World Cup return.

Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed the situation to Cricbuzz on Wednesday, April 10, concurrently with the pacer's announcement to the media that he was hoping to make a return in the main event.

"No way (Ebadot can make a comeback before the T20 WC). We are not even thinking about it. It does not go (his comeback) in that time frame (before the WC). It takes eight to 12 months but at least you need 10 months. He was operated in December, so it will be at least October when he can make a comeback. He can make a comeback a bit earlier but certainly not in the World T20," he said. However, Ebadot had undergone surgery in August last year,”  Debashish Chowdhury told Cricbuzz.

Following surgery for his anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during Bangladesh's home series against Afghanistan in July 2023 when he collided with an umpire while bowling, Ebadot had expressed confidence in his recovery. But fate had other ideas for him.

This is a significant loss for the Bangla Tigers. Ebadot has been bowling exceptionally well lately and is one of the team's top pace bowlers.

Nevertheless, he is a committed cricket player, and it is expected that he will fully recover from his injury.
