Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar is no stranger to controversy, especially when it comes to sharing his opinions about other cricketers. And this time, he’s found himself in the hot seat again for his comments on Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir Fans Rip Into Manjrekar After Fiery Tweet

Gambhir, who looked as focused as ever, addressed the press with his trademark straightforwardness. He didn’t dodge questions, instead backing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and praising KL Rahul for his versatility. Gambhir brushed off the recent 0-3 loss to New Zealand, choosing to focus on the upcoming challenge in Australia.

But that didn’t sit well with Manjrekar, who tweeted that the BCCI should keep Gambhir away from press duties. He took to Twitter, suggesting that Gambhir doesn’t have the “demeanour” to handle media and should stay behind the scenes.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s comments didn’t go down well with fans of Gambhir as reactions came thick and fast. Known for his blunt takes (and his infamous “bits and pieces” comment about Ravindra Jadeja that sparked quite the uproar), Manjrekar faced backlash almost instantly. Fans slammed him left, right, and centre for criticizing Gambhir.

One fan shot back, “You should be the last one to make such comments. Remember, you called the greatest all-rounder Jadeja a bits and pieces player.”




Another fan chimed in, “We all think the same about your commentary and we’re tired of complaining about it, but nothing changes. So how about you deal with it just like we do?”






Fans Urge BCCI To Retire Sanjay Manjrekar

The jibes kept coming, with some fans even suggesting that the BCCI should “retire” Manjrekar from all cricket-related activities. 

“You’re constantly spreading hate and filth against fellow cricketers and staff. Jadeja was right when he said, ‘Enough of your verbal diarrhoea,’” added another user, quoting Jadeja’s infamous retort to Manjrekar.



Sanjay Manjrekar’s latest dig at Gambhir has added fuel to the fire with many fans recalling his habit of creating controversies. From his comments on Jadeja to his opinions on players’ techniques, Manjrekar’s blunt style has made him a divisive figure.

Whether he’ll continue to ruffle the feathers or be a little more selective with his words remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure, Gambhir’s fans aren’t letting this one slide anytime soon.
