Rohit Sharma visits Alibag amidst  BGT 2024 uncertainty

On Monday, November 11, Rohit Sharma was spotted at a registration office in Alibag. As per reports, the cricketer attended the coastal city in regards to the land he acquired back in 2021. Alibag seems to have become a popular destination hub for Indian celebrities off late, considering Sharma’s national teammate Virat Kohli had also acquired a luxurious home in the city last year.

While Rohit Sharma was strolling around in Alibag, his teammates were taking flight for Australia for India’s upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series. The Indian team departed in two separate batches, i.e., on November 10 and November 11.

Sharma’s availability for the series-opening first Test remains an uncertainty at the moment, as he is expected to become father to a second child around the same time.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has already confirmed that vice-captain and senior fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the team if Sharma remains unavailable for the first Test match. The series against Australia will commence from November 22 onwards at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

The series marks India’s final set of fixtures in the ongoing 2023-25 WTC cycle. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India lost its latest series to New Zealand by a 0-3 margin at home.
