The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly relocated the venue of the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Earlier this month, i.e., after the IPL 2025 retention updates, several reports indicated that the mega auction will be hosted by Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh on November 24 and November 25.

However, as per latest updates, the mega auction will now be organized in a different part of Saudi Arabia.

BCCI locks this city as IPL 2025 auction venue - Reports

As reported by Revsportz, the BCCI has locked in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as the venue for the impending IPL 2025 mega auction, thus making way from the nation’s capital Riyadh. The decision to host the auction outside India was made in a bid to tap to newer markets.

Apparently, countries like England, UAE and Singapore were also considered as potential venues for the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, the BCCI dropped England because of the nation’s colder conditions, and had only kept UAE and Singapore as backup options outside the preferred choice of Saudi Arabia.

The Revsportz report further indicated that the dates for the auction will remain the same, i.e., November 24 and November 25. The aforementioned dates mean the IPL 2025 mega auction will be coinciding with the first Test of India’s 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia ‘Down Under’.

Back in October 31, each of the 10 competing franchises unveiled the list of all their intended retentions for the IPL 2025 season. With only two retentions, the Punjab Kings franchise is set to enter the mega auction with the biggest available purse, that of Rs.110 crore.
