The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced Bangladesh squad for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The nine-day T20I event is scheduled to launch on July 19 with a match between Pakistan and Nepal at Dambulla on July 19. The Bangladesh Women’s cricket team, meanwhile, will commence their campaign with a Group B match against hosts Sri Lanka the following day at the same venue.

BCB announce squad, Nigar Sultana to continue as captain

Senior Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana is set to continue as team captain at the upcoming 2024 Women’s T20 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The BCB recently announced Bangladesh’s 15-player squad for the tournament, which also features fellow senior cricketers like Ritu Moni and Sultana’s deputy Nahida Akter.

Here is a look at Bangladesh Women’s entire 15-member group for the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup:

The Bangladesh cricket team will launch their 2024 Women’s Asia Cup campaign with a match against hosts Sri Lanka on July 20. The much-awaited contest between the two continental rivals will be staged at the iconic Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.

Bangladesh is placed in Group B at the tournament alongside Sri Lanka and associate nations Malaysia and Thailand.

Under the leadership of Nigar Sultana, the team recently hosted India for a five-match T20I series back in May earlier this year. Playing all their games at Sylhet, the Bangladesh team lost each of the five scheduled fixtures to concede the series by a 0-5 margin to the ‘Women in Blue’. Bangladesh also lost the preceding three-game T20I series to world champions Australia 0-3 at Mirpur in April.

Currently on an unwanted losing streak, Nigar Sultana and co. will be aiming to gain some winning momentum at the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup on their road towards the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup at home later this year.
