The ongoing Asia Cup 2023 has been quite all about good news for cricketers. After Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah announced the birth of his firstborn last week, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has revealed about being blessed with a second child.

On Monday, Rahim took to the social media platform Facebook and announced that he and his wife Jannatul Kifayet Mondi have been blessed with a baby girl, who is also the second-born. Rahim travelled back to Dhaka on Sunday evening amidst the Asia Cup 2023 to be with his wife for the birth of his newborn.

In the FB post, Rahim shared a photo of his son, Mohammad Shahroj Rahim Mayan holding a slate with "It's A Girl <3" chalked on it.

In the caption, the former Bangladesh captain first thanked the almighty and then stated that both the mother and newborn are under observation.

"Assalamualaikum all…Alhamdulillah Almighty Allah bless us with a baby girl…Both mother and baby under observations..please pray for us,"

Rahim first became a parent in 2018 when son Shahroj was born. The Bangladesh batter married Mondi back in 2014.

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old will regroup with the Bangladesh side on September 13 ahead of their final Asia Super Fours match against India on September 15.

Bangladesh face an uphill task given they have lost both their Super 4 matches, and will need to beat India if they want to stay virtually alive in the competition.
