Bangladesh have started a new era in the shortest format under the leadership of Litton Das and recently won a series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. They were supposed to play India in August, but the series has been postponed, and as a result, the Tigers have no official matches in line till the Asia Cup 2025.
Thus, to keep the preparation for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2026 on the right path, BCB is planning to host the Netherlands for three T20I games. It has been reported by bdcrictime.com that the Dutch have already agreed to tour Bangladesh, and the series is likely to help both teams in fine-tuning their T20I squad.

The bdcrictime.com report further states that the series will be played between August 19 and 25. If the series continues to go as planned, it will help Bangladesh increase their options for the Asia Cup by trying out different players. Bangladesh are in Group B of the Asia Cup and are placed alongside Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Afghanistan.
The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be played in India and Sri Lanka, and thus, Netherlands players can use the series to acclimatise in subcontinental conditions. Recently, the Dutch contingent won the European Qualifiers and would be looking to make an impression against an in-form Bangladesh unit.
The Netherlands and Bangladesh last played each other in the T20 World Cup 2024, where the South Asian team managed to clinch the game by 25 runs. They have not played a lot of bilateral cricket against each other, and so if the Netherlands can win the series, it would be a historic feat and a big step in the right direction for the European unit.
