BCCI Releases Jasprit Bumrah From India Squad For Ongoing 5th Test vs England

In a significant development around Jasprit Bumrah, the 31-year-old seamer has been released from the squad for the fifth Test against England. Notably, the right-arm seamer was not a part of the final match of the series because of workload management. 

The BCCI took to Twitter to announce the recent change and also released the updated squad for the ongoing fifth Test at Kia Oval, London. Notably, the 31-year-old is now free to travel back to India and won't be seen in the dressing room for the rest of the four days.

Why Did India Release Bumrah From Squad For 5th Test?

Prior to the fifth Test, there were speculations that Jasprit might not feature in the fifth Test as the management had decided to play him only in three matches. Thus, not to risk any further injuries, the 31-year-old was rested for the 5th Test. 

However, the board let the seamer to be released from the squad as it allows him to travel back home and start his recovery and rejuvenate from the fatigue after a long tour. 

Notably, the board didn't provide any official reason behind releasing Jasprit Bumrah from the squad, but it is expected that the decision was taken after stumps on Day 1 as the MI seamer was present in the stadium on the opening day.

Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, India are 213/6 after 45 overs and there are no signs of Bumrah in the stadium.
