The International League T20 (ILT20) is all set for its first-ever auction ahead of its fourth edition. The one-day affair will be held on September 30 in the UAE after the completion of the Asia Cup 2025 in the country.
Each Team Allowed To Buy 13 Players In Auction
The tournament consists of six teams, and each one of them will be allowed to add a maximum of 13 players to their already existing squads. It means there are 78 players who can be sold in the auction, and the last date of registration for a player is September 10.
The combined purse for six franchises at the auction is USD 4.8 million, and this development is likely to increase the stature of the league even further. ILT20 CEO David White also expressed his pleasure while announcing the date and stated that it would help in further development of the league and help franchises strengthen their squads.
"We are delighted to confirm the DP World International League Season 4 Player Auction date - Tuesday, 30 September. The auction is a big milestone for the league as we continue to grow as a world-class T20 tournament. The auction will be a great opportunity for our franchises to add local and international firepower to their Season 4 squads," ILT20 CEO David White said.
Dubai Capitals are the defending champions after their triumph against Desert Vipers in the final of the last season. The previous three seasons of ILT20 were held in January-February, but the next edition is likely to start in December 2025 to avoid a clash with other leagues.
"For the UAE players, the ACC Asia Cup 2025 - September 9-28 in the UAE - is a massive opportunity for making a global impression ahead of the Player Auction. The players will have incredible exposure in the continental championship where they will be pitted against some of the top-ranked T20 teams."White also emphasised the importance of the Asia Cup just before the auction of the league. He mentioned that it will help local talent from the UAE to improve their game and is likely to help the growth of cricket in the country."
