Bangladesh's hosting rights of women's T20 World Cup are in serious trouble as ICC is looking at potential alternatives to host the marquee event amidst political turmoil in the original host country. UAE is one of the frontrunners in the race after India's rejection and the final decision on the matter is likely to be taken on August 20.

Originally, the final decision from ICC was to be taken on August 15, but Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sought some extra some and is in talks with the Army Chief of the country regarding the security assurance for the tournament. Zimbabwe is another country that is interested in hosting the event, but ICC is keen to go with the nation with similar time zone as Bangladesh and with world-class facilities in UAE, it is expected to get a nod.

India Rejected ICC's Offer To Host Women's T20 World Cup 2024

India had earlier rejected the ICC offer because of the monsoon in the country and Jay Shah's insistence on not hosting two consecutive women's tournament as it could provide a wrong signal to the cricketing world.

The tournament is scheduled to start on 3rd of October and the final will be played on 20th of the same month and it will be a 10-team affair with Australia coming into the tournament as the reigning champions.
