Bangladesh as a country is going through a lot in recent times, and recently, the councillor of BCB and general secretary of Cricket Welfare Association of Bengal spurred a controversy by stating that the board is yet to play price money of World Cup 2023 to the national cricketers.

However, Bangladesh Cricket Board has now clarified that the delay is not due to the board's negligence, but it is due to the taxation formalities and compliance issues. The money is to be received to the board from ICC, but along with BCB, other boards are also facing the issues and the formalities are expected to be completed soon.

BCB Taking Necessary Steps

BCB also stated that they submitted the invoice right after the World Cup, but the delay has been caused due to technical issues. The board has also appointed renowned international accounting firm Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP in India to process the applications of Bangladesh players.

"The BCB would like to clarify that the delay is not deliberate or due to any negligence on the part of the Board. Prize money for major International Cricket Council (ICC) events, such as the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, is typically received within a few months following the tournament's conclusion. We have been informed that these formalities have only recently been completed and that the prize money is expected to be credited to the BCB in the coming weeks."

BCB also criticised the councillor for the remarks and added that the allegations are baseless and it hampers the smooth working of the board.

"The BCB strongly refutes the untrue remarks made by the concerned councillor and vehemently protests the insinuations of malpractice against the Board and its officials on this matter. Such allegations are baseless and undermine the integrity of the BCB's operations."

As far as Bangladesh team is concerned, they are now in Pakistan for the two-match Test series which is set to start on 21st of August.
