Amid criticism over repeated failures in the Bangladesh series, a recent social media post suggesting that Babar Azam, Pakistan's star cricketer, might retire from Test cricket has sparked widespread panic and confusion among fans. But is this post a hoax or a reality? Let's find out.

Babar Azam's lean patch in red ball cricket has been prolonged for over a year now. He is yet to score a half-century in the 2023-25 WTC cycle, and as a result, Pakistan has dropped to the bottom place in the WTC standings.

In recent humiliation, Pakistan was defeated by Bangladesh for the first time in Tests, and that too with a 10-wicket margin on home soil. Babar Azam's performance has been underwhelming as he managed to score only 64 runs across two Tests, including a duck.

His average in the last 10 innings has dropped to 19 as Babar struggles to stay relevant in the longer format.

Babar Azam Trolled With Fake Retirement Post

Meanwhile, following the first Test debacle, social media was buzzing with criticism and backlash over Babar's failures.

A certain post claimed that Babar Azam was contemplating stepping away from the longest format of the game, causing a significant stir in the cricketing world.

The post featured a detailed letter in which Babar reportedly said that he is stepping away from Test cricket as he is not able to contribute as per set standards.

However, the post is fake and posted by a parody account. Babar Azam continues to be a central figure in Pakistan's cricket future, with no signs of retirement from Test cricket on the horizon.

Babar Azam Slips Below Virat Kohli In Test Rankings

Following a 2-ball duck in the first Test against Bangladesh, Babar Azam lost 6 places in the revised ICC Men's Test batter's rankings.

He slipped to the 9th spot with a 734 rating and could soon fall out of the top 10 race if his lean patch extends further.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli gained two places and was ranked 8th in the Test batters rankings with 737 ratings.
