After a flop show against Bangladesh in the first Test match, Babar Azam has slipped down in the latest ICC Test rankings.

Babar goes down after poor Test Vs Bangladesh

The former Pakistan Test skipper, was dismissed for a 2-ball duck in the first innings, and could only contribute 22 runs in the second innings as Pakistan shockingly lost the Rawalpindi Test by 10-wickets.

He also had a poor Test series Down Under against the Australian team, as Pakistan suffered a whitewash. In the last 4 Tests, Babar has only accumulated 148 runs, with no scores of fifty-plus. As a result, the ICC has slapped him with a downward spiral in the latest rankings, as he slips down six positions to 9th rank.

Kohli, surprisingly moves up

Interestingly, India legend, Virat Kohli has moved 2 positions to number 8 in the rankings, one position ahead of Babar. Surprisingly, Kohli has not played a single Test in 2024, and yet, has managed to leapfrog in the rankings.

However, prior to 2024, Kohli had a stellar tour of South Africa, where he finished as the highest run-getter for India, as the series ended 1-1.

In other positions, England's Harry Brook jumps three position and occupies the 4th spot in Test ranking. He looked in ominous touch in the recently concluded Test against West Indies, and was rewarded by ICC.
