In the wake of Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, significant changes are being considered for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

Sources revealed on Wednesday that white-ball captain Babar Azam, along with key players Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, are likely to be rested.

This strategic move comes as the Pakistan cricket team aims to revamp its lineup and focus on fresh talent for the Test matches scheduled in August.

The discussions regarding the Test squad have intensified under the leadership of Captain Shan Masood and the guidance of new head coach Jason Gillespie

The selection committee is actively deliberating potential candidates to fill the roster, aiming to strike a balance between experience and new energy.

Among the batsmen, Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique, Salman Ali Agha, and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed are being considered for the final squad.

In the pace department, the likes of Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shahzad, and Aamir Jamal are under scrutiny for their potential inclusion.

Notably, Haris Rauf’s inclusion is not being considered for this series, indicating a possible strategic shift in the team’s approach.

The two-Test series against Bangladesh, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-2025, will be a significant event for Pakistan cricket.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam among with 5 Pakistan players, have opted to stay in London for a brief holiday before returning home.
