In the 39th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Brian Lara Stadium on June 17, young New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra failed to make a significant impact against Papua New Guinea.

The Black Caps were set a modest target of 79, but faced early challenges in their chase.

PNG's bowler Kabua Morea was instrumental in creating these difficulties, striking twice early in the innings. In the first over, Morea dismissed opener Finn Allen, setting a tense tone for New Zealand. Then, in his second over, he removed Rachin Ravindra, delivering a significant blow to the Black Caps' top order.

The pivotal moment came in the 5th over when Morea bowled a fuller delivery around leg stump. Ravindra, the left-handed batter, attempted to heave it away off his pads but only managed to find Semo Kamea positioned at deep mid-wicket.

Rachin Ravindra's dismissal was a straightforward catch for Kamea, leaving him with a score of 6 runs off 11 balls.

At the time of writing, New Zealand stood at 29 for 2 in 6 overs, with the match still in a delicate balance.
