Azam Khan's 'Management Backing' Remark Gets Trolled After 'Dropped' In 4th T20I vs NZ

Azam Khan's time with Pakistan's T20I side has been quite erratic. Khan, who featured for Pakistan in the lead-up to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, was dropped for the tournament and went back to playing league cricket, where, after a successful time in the Caribbean Premier League 2023, he regained his spot for the ongoing New Zealand series.

Azam, who featured in the first three T20Is, scored merely 22 runs, which raised doubt over the player's place in the XI and prompted the player to publicly speak about receiving the team's backing.

The 25-year-old stated how the management has expressed faith in his match-winning abilities as quoted by several media outlets.

I'm a matchwinner - Azam Khan

"Team management knows I'm a matchwinner and they are backing me."

However, when Pakistan announced their playing XI for the fourth T20I, which is underway right now, Khan was replaced by batter Sahibzada Farhan, with the vice-captain taking over the role of wicketkeeper.

In eight T20Is for Pakistan between 2021 and 204, the son of former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper Moin Khan has managed merely 29 runs and is known for scoring heavily in franchise leagues across the globe

Azam's replacement in the XI, Farhan, scored just one run and fell to Lockie Ferguson.
