The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to re-introduce the Yo Yo Test in order to bring players back on track in terms of fitness concerns.

As reported by cricketpakistan.com.pk, fitness tests will happen in two phases, beginning on July 11. In the first phase, it will be nationwide, first at district level, followed by the regional level.

Khurram Niazi, the new director of Pakistan’s domestic cricket, has made a new plan, and proposed it to PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who recently gave NOCs to 12 players. Naqvi liked the idea, and hence, he reportedly told Niazi to go ahead with the plan.

PCB To Take Strict Actions On Yo-Yo Test Results

"Players who fail the fitness tests will face consequences, including being dropped from both national and regional teams," a statement read in cricketpakistan.com.pk.

Notably, the fitness tests are mandatory for international players, which means everyone including Azam Khan and Babar Azam, who have been heavily criticized lately due to fitness issues, will have to do that as well.

Earlier, ex Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez broke the silence regarding the Yo-Yo test and other fitness assessments, saying they were all sidelined under the then PCB management of Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn.
