As expected, Cricket Australia (CA) has named an unchanged 13-member Australian squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan, which starts on January 3 and will be held at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.

This Test will also be opener David Warner's final appearance in red-ball cricket, with the explosive player announcing his decision before the start of the three-match series.

Pat Cummins, who has led the side impeccably, will remain the captain, while players like Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, and Nathan Lyon also make the cut.

Despite being benched thus far, both all-rounder Cameron Green and pacer Scott Boland will continue to be with the squad, while Lance Morris, who was expected to make his debut in the Perth Test, will remain representing Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24.

CA chief selector and former Australian international George Bailey wished well for Warner ahead of his final Test in front of his home crowd.

Here's what George Bailey said

"We look forward to celebrating David Warner's final Test match and his incredible career at his home ground."

Warner will leave the Test arena as a legend of the game, leaving as Australia's second-highest run-getter in international cricket and fifth-highest in red-ball.

Australia has already gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing Benaud–Qadir Trophy 2023-2024 and will look to make a clean sweep before playing West Indies in a two-Test series next.
