'You Should Think Who Benefits From It..'- Gambhir On Giving Controversial Remarks

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir's laurels on the field cannot be questioned, standing up for the team when others find the going tough.

However, his aggressive attitude and no-holds-bar approach have left the player embroiled in several controversies post his career, many of which have been due to the Delhi-born's statements.

2023, in particular, started with the infamous spat with Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and ended with an uncalled-for gesture towards fans during the Asia Cup.

On Friday, when Gambhir held an #AskGG session on the social media platform 'X', a fan quizzed the reason why the two-time IPL winning captain makes controversial statements, which are either too harsh or indigestible for social media armies. 

In response, Gambhir stated that he says what he feels and finished his answer with a thought-provoking remark.

Recently, Gambhir had an on-field spat with former India pacer S Sreesanth during Legends League Cricket (LLC), where the latter accused the former of calling the pacer 'fixer' mid-pitch, followed by an internal investigation.

The cricketer-turned-politician will be seen mentoring former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024, moving away from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), where the cricketer served in a similar capacity for two years. 

During his time as captain with KKR, Gambhir helped the franchise lift two IPL titles - 2012 and 2014 - before shifting base back to Delhi.
