2023 has been nothing short of spectacular for Australia's Test and One-Day International (ODI) captain Pat Cummins.
From retaining Ashes to winning the World Test Championship Final 2023 and World Cup 2023, Cummins has pocketed every winnable trophy and finished the year on a high, helping Australia claim a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-Test series against Pakistan, winning the Boxing Day encounter.
Cummins not only led from the front as a captain but also remained the vital cog in the home side's 79-run victory, claiming match figures of 10 for 97.
Cummins' performance saw former England captain Michael Vaughan receive high praise for the Australian skipper. Speaking to Fox Sport, Vaughan maintained that Cummins would create a legacy that would put him in the same bracket as legends like Glenn McGrath and Dennis Lillee.
Here's what Vaughan said
“In years gone by, he’s certainly going to be talked of in the same breath as McGrath and Lillee. That [bowling] average is low now, but I think it will get better."
Cummins has had his fair share of troubles, having been out of action for six years following a career-threatening back injury after claiming a seven-for on his Test debut in 2011.
Cummins will look to start 2024 with a win as well when Australia locks horns with Pakistan in the third and final Test at Sydney on January 3.
