It is Yashasvi Jaiswal's time to shine in the ODIs as the selectors have finally decided to pick the maverick opener in India's squad for the upcoming ODI series Vs England and the Champions Trophy. The opener gets his deserved spot after a great showing in the Test format.

As per RevSportz, Jaiswal will be picked in the side as a back-up opener to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. However, there is a great chance that the youngster could potentially make his ODI debut in the England series.

Jaiswal had an impressive Test outing against the Australian team in the recently concluded Test series. He finished as India's leading run-getter in the BGT, and as a result, the selectors are planning to reward him with a place in the ODIs as well.

Being a left-handed batter, he gives an edge to the Indian side as he could be accommodated at the top order to give India a left-right opening combination.

Jaiswal's rapidly rising international career

The star opener had a brilliant IPL 2023 season and he came into prominence as the selectors picked him up for the West Indies Test tour and he shone brightly on his Test debut as well. In the same tour, he made his T20I debut as well and quickly became one of the mainstays of the Indian side.

2024 was special for Jaiswal as he finished the year with 1478 runs in 15 matches, at an average of 54.74. His ability to take the opposition attack right from ball one will be crucial in ODIs, and hence, the selectors see him as the long-term successor to skipper, Rohit Sharma.
