The Indian team has recently suffered a humiliating defeat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The team will be now looking to resurrect and reinstate their pride in international cricket. The next big assignment for the team will be the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Even though the management will get to the drawing boards chalking out plans and strategies for the mega event, it might prove to be difficult for the team to bounce back so quickly. First of all a transition phase in approaching in Indian cricket and it is the time when new talents will be encouraged. At this stage, results might not turn out the way fans exactly want. Besides this, there are a few more reasons that the Indian team might not end up winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

3. Lack of ODI Match Practice

The upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy will be in the ODI format. The last ODI match that the Indian team has played was in seventh August 2024. Before the Champions Trophy 2025, the will play just three more games. The team has been playing a plethora of T20Is and Tests during this period. Yes, all the players are professional but there is no harm in putting yourself in the situations which might come during the tournament over and over again.

Also, there are few players in the ODI scheme of things who do not play the other formats. These players need to adjust themselves to the team's working culture and strategies in a very short period of time.  The lack of gelling and understanding in the team might lead to lack of co-ordination and could turn out to be a huge factor during the tournament.

2. Jasprit Bumrah's Injury Concern

Jasprit Bumrah could not bowl during the second innings of the fifth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 due to a back spasm. Visuals of him leaving the SCG to get scans went viral on social media and scared the fans. Adding the concern of the ICT fans are he latest news about the ace pacer not being a part of the majority of the white ball series against England.

Even if Bumrah recovers fast and plays for the Indian team in the CT 2025, he might not be the same bowler the fans know him to be. Bumrah is one of the most crucial parts of the Indian plans in any major tournament. If his effectivity decreases due to the latest injury, there are chances that India might slip during Champions Trophy 2025.

1. Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli's Lean Phase With The Bat

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two of the biggest assets of Indian cricket. When it comes to ODIs, there have been no biggest match winners than these two modern greats. However, all of us are witnessing a dip in their batting form in international cricket. Even though the recent dip is in Test cricket, there is no guarantee that it will not translate in ODIs.

During the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit and Kohli will be the pillars of the team. Besides the performance of the whole team, the form of these two players will also affect the confidence of the unit. So, it is essential for the Indian team, that Rohit and Virat regain their form as soon as possible, otherwise it may cause big concerns for the team during the grand tournament.
