Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in history by becoming the 23rd Indian cricketer to score a Test century on Australian soil. In the ongoing first Test between India and Australia at the Perth Stadium, Jaiswal displayed exceptional resilience and talent on day 3. He overcame a disappointing duck in the first innings to craft a majestic century in the second innings.  

Opening the innings alongside KL Rahul, Jaiswal took on the formidable Australian bowling attack with class and aggression. His innings was a masterclass in adapting to challenging conditions, with the young left-hander executing a wide array of strokes on a pitch known for its bounce and pace. 

The duo of Jaiswal and Rahul also scripted history by stitching together a 201-run partnership, the highest opening stand for India in Australia.   

Yashasvi Jaiswal's Unique Record vs Australia 

Jaiswal’s knock not only contributed to India’s commanding position in the match but also secured him a unique record. By scoring a duck in the first innings and a century in the second, Jaiswal became only the fifth Indian batter to achieve this rare feat. The last Indian to do so was Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a duck and 106 runs in Melbourne in 2018.

Jaiswal Steals the Spotlight On Day 3

In his first innings Yashasvi Jaiswal faced immense pressure after being dismissed for a duck. However, his second-innings he reasserted his standing as one of the brightest young talents in international cricket. His partnership with KL Rahul laid the foundation for India’s dominance on Day 3, with Rahul contributing a solid 77 runs before being dismissed.  

At the time of writing, India have attained a massive lead of 270 runs with Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal on the crease.
