Aimee Maguire cleared to bowl by ICC [Source: @MidnightMusinng/x]
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has cleared Ireland women spinner Aimee Maguire to bowl after she was reported for a suspect bowling action earlier this year. Back in January, after delivering her eight-over spell against India Women in Rajkot in the first ODI of a three-match series, the cricketer was suspended from bowling by the apex body.
Yet to play international cricket since then, Maguire can now resume bowling for Ireland with immediate effect, as confirmed by the ICC on their official website.
Aimee Maguire Remodels Action, Clears ICC Tests
Keeping in line with the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations, Ireland left-arm spinner Aimee Maguire was suspended from bowling in international matches after she was reported for holding a suspected bowling action back in January this year.
As confirmed by the ICC on their official website, Maguire has since remodelled her action and has undergone an independent re-assessment at a testing centre. The assessment concluded that her elbow extension in the new bowling action is now within the 15-degree tolerance level.
When Can Aimee Maguire Resume Bowling?
While the ICC has permitted Aimee Maguire to resume bowling with immediate effect, fans of the cricketer might have to wait a little longer to see her bowl. The Ireland Women cricket team is scheduled to host Pakistan in a three-match T20I series at the Castle Avenue in Dublin between August 6 and August 10.
Maguire, however, is not selected in the Irish squad for the series. She might make her return to international cricket for Ireland later this year during a white-ball tour of South Africa.
