In their T20 World Cup 2024 opener, Afghanistan routed Uganda by 125 runs, and thus notched up aremarkable win in the second Group C encounter.

Afghanistan excelled in both departments — bat, and ball, where the pacers, especially Fazalhaq Farooqi ran through the opponents. Head coach Jonathan Trott after the match, found heavy praise for fellow support staff member Dwayne Bravo.

Bravo, who is known for his death bowling during his playing, was appointed Afghanistan's bowling consultant for the T20 World Cup 2024.

In the post-match presser, Trott, himself a well-accomplished former England cricketer, lauded the Afghanistan Cricket Board's move to rope in Bravo, who brings in vast experience in the dressing room, making things easier for other support staff members.

DJ coming into the side, fantastic- Jonathan Trott

"DJ (Dwayne Bravo) coming into the side, fantastic. Having quality coaches also with huge experience as players (is great), but also vast franchise experience in this format of the game,""(It's) only a brilliant thing to have a player like him coming to the side as coach and it makes your job a lot easier but it also makes the coaching more enhanced, especially with the bowlers."

Bravo has won numerous accolades as a player winning the T20 World Cup twice with West Indies and has been a member of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) winning teams multiple times.

Upon retirement, Bravo has been involved in coaching stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL.

Trott and Bravo's next focus will be on training Afghanistan players for their next encounter, which is against a strong New Zealand side on Friday.
