Litton Das out, Soumya returns as BAN name ODI squad for WI series
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Bangladesh’s 16-player squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies in Dhaka. While T20I skipper Litton Das has not been included in the squad owing to his injury, all-rounder Soumya Sarkar is set to make his return to the national ODI line-up. Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue to lead the team and he will be accompanied by fellow star attractions like Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Jaker Ali among others.
Kane Williamson joins LSG as “strategic advisor” for IPL 2026
Legendary New Zealand batter Kane Williamson has been roped in by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise, albeit as a strategic advisor ahead of the IPL 2026 season and its auction, as confirmed by team owner Sanjiv Goenka. Despite Williamson’s latest recruitment, former Australian opener Justin Langer will continue to serve as the head coach of the LSG franchise. Kane Williamson, aged 35 and a veteran of 79 IPL games, last graced the league during the 2024 season last year for the Gujarat Titans.
Alyssa Healy hammers second successive World Cup ton as AUS blank BAN
Australia Women obliterated Bangladesh Women by 10 wickets in match 17 of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in Vizag. After Annabel Sutherland, Alana King, Georgia Wareham and Ashleigh Gardner picked up two wickets each to restrict Bangladesh Women to 198-9 in 50 overs, Australia captain and legendary opener Alyssa Healy smeared 113* runs off just 77 balls with 20 boundaries to clatter her second successive century this tournament. Healy’s opening partner Phoebe Litchfield also blasted 84* from just 72 balls with 12 fours and a huge six as Australia became the first team to qualify for the semifinals.
Abhishek Sharma and Smriti Mandhana win ICC POTMs
Young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma and India Women prolific batter and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana won the ICC Player of the Month award in men’s and women’s categories respectively for the month of September 2025. Abhishek Sharma played a key role in India’s triumphant Asia Cup 2025 run in the UAE last month, where he also bagged the ‘Player of the Month’ award. Smriti Mandhana, on the other hand, also enjoyed a stellar September by scoring two successive ODI centuries and another fifty against Australia Women in New Chandigarh and Delhi.
Harbhajan Singh joins Aspin Stallions for Abu Dhabi T10 2025
Former Indian cricketer and legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has joined the Aspin Stallions franchise for the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2025 season. The Aspin Stallions is one of the five new franchises introduced this year alongside Vista Riders, Ajman Titans, and Royal Champs. The Abu Dhabi T10 2025 season will be taking place between November 18 and November 30 next month.
