In a phenomenal achievement, India's experienced opener Smriti Mandhana has won the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for September. The swashbuckling southpaw, who looked in great touch in the ODI series against Australia, beat Pakistan's Sidra Amin and South Africa's Tazmin Brits to bag the prestigious award.

Mandhana's excellent performance helps her win ICC award

Smriti Mandhana showcased remarkable form in the home ODI series against Australia Women last month. Opening the batting for India Women, Mandhana slammed 308 runs in just four ODI outings in September, entering the race as the favourite to win the player of the month award.

After scoring 58 runs off just 63 balls against Australia Women in the first ODI, Mandhana followed it up with two breathtaking tons. While she took only 91 deliveries to score 117 runs in the second ODI of the series, Mandhana registered the fastest century for India in the very next game, bringing up a scintillating hundred in 50 balls.

Her outstanding batting performance in September helped the left-handed batter pip her competitors, Sidra Amin and Tazmin Brits and bag the ICC player of the month award.

After winning the ICC player of the month award, Smriti Mandhana revealed how the honour would motivate her to further elevate her performance at the highest level.

"I am truly honoured to receive the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2025," she said. A recognition like this pushes me to keep growing and evolving as a player. The recognition also reflects the support, trust, and effort we put in together collectively as a team," Mandhana was quoted as saying by ICC.
"My aim has always been to deliver my best and win matches for the team. I am looking forward to making the most out of the opportunities that result in memorable victories for India in the matches ahead," she added.

Smriti Mandhana recently showed her class in the Women's World Cup, scoring a quick-fire 66-ball 80 against Australia. However, her valiant knock couldn't avoid India's defeat, as Alyssa Healy's power-packed knock guided her side to glory.
