Nepal, Oman qualify for 2026 T20 World Cup in Asia-EAP
Nepal and Oman cricket teams have qualified for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka after winning their first four matches of the 2025 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and EAP Qualifier. As of October 15, both Nepal and Oman remain unbeaten in the ongoing qualifying competition in Oman. The two teams also featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA last year, setting up Nepal for their second successive global T20 appearance and handing Oman their fourth T20 World Cup ticket over the past decade.
Harmanpreet Kaur-led India fined by ICC for over-rate
The India Women team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, has been fined five percent of their match fees by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia Women in match number 13 of the ongoing 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. Match referee Michell Periera imposed the sanction on the ‘Women in Blue’ after the game in Visakhapatnam earlier this week. Team India also lost the high-scoring match against the defending champions by three wickets in a tight finish.
Hashmatullah, Rashid to lead Afghanistan in Zimbabwe
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named Afghanistan’s entire Test and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The Afghanistan cricket team is scheduled to face hosts Zimbabwe in a one-off Test and three T20I matches between October 20 and November 2 at the Harare Sports Club. While Hashmatullah Shahidi will continue to lead Afghanistan’s Test setup, ace spinner and blistering all-rounder Rashid Khan will helm his nation’s T20I group. The travelling squad will also feature the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran among others.
ICC punish Ibrahim Zadran for code of conduct breach vs BAN
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has punished Afghanistan’s top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran for violating an ICC Code of Conduct. The cricketer copped a 15 percent fine for breaching Article 2.2 of the conduct, which relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match”, doing so during Afghanistan’s third ODI against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi earlier this week. The incident occurred during the 37th over of the Afghanistan innings when Ibrahim Zadran hit some equipment near the dressing room while making his way back to the sheds.
Noman Ali takes 10 as Pakistan engulf South Africa
Pakistan blanked South Africa by 93 runs on Day 4 of the first Test of the two-match series in Lahore. Defending 277 runs for a win, Pakistan bowlers enveloped the entire South Africa innings for just 183 in 60.5 overs after the latter resumed their run-chase on the fourth morning at 51-2. Dewald Brevis scored the lone half-century for the Proteas through his cracking 54-run knock. For Pakistan, spinner Noman Ali picked up four wickets to seize a sensational 10-wicket haul for the match. Shaheen Afridi also picked up four South African scalps in the decisive innings.
