It was a major performance from Australian skipper Alyssa Healy, who thumped up 142 against India in Visakhapatnam in the ongoing Women's World Cup 2025. Dealing with cramps, Healy somehow managed to stay at the crease for 107 deliveries after wicket-keeping for almost 49 overs.

Healy talks about major cramp issue after match winning 142

It was a tough day at the office for Australian skipper Alyssa Healy, who played a match-winning knock for the Australian women in the ongoing Women's World Cup 2025, as she led the Kangaroos to victory by three wickets in Visakhapatnam.

The major problem for Healy wasn't the run-scoring or match performance, but the cramps that made it even more difficult for her to stay at the crease.

Speaking about it on the Willow Talk podcast, Healy was quite animated about the fact that it was hot out there in Vizag, which caused her to have major cramps in her body.

“It’s a little hot and humid over here, as it traditionally is in India. Not a lot of breeze off the ocean, sadly, so it was tough work. At one point, I had a full-body cramp once I finally got out," Healy said on the Willow Talk podcast.

Further, she revealed that after getting into the dressing room, her body started experiencing cramps, and it became way more difficult to sit there, as her body completely shut down.

“After I got back to the change room, the air conditioner was on, and once I stopped moving, my body decided to completely shut down. But that was fine — we got the important part done, which is what matters," she continued.

Later, Healy revealed a hilarious story where she mentioned that while sitting in the dressing room, she suddenly had major cramps in her body, following which the physio came and gave her treatment.

“It wasn’t just me there. Megan Schutt was around, and our manager was sitting nearby, working on her laptop. Suddenly, I was like, uh-oh — everything started to seize up. She asked if I was okay or if I needed help, and I said, ‘No, I’m fine.’ But then the cramp took over my whole body, and I curled up in a ball. Next minute, the physio came running in. I had no idea how she knew! Turns out, the manager had texted her for help." she added.

It was then, during the podcast, that host Adam Peacock made a humorous comment about Healy, referring to the post-match presentation in which Healy mentioned having beers as treatment. To which she laughed and mentioned the fact that it is indeed a perfect recovery tool.

“There may have been a couple of beers on ice when we got back. So I thought that was the perfect recovery tool,” she concluded.

After a convincing victory against the host India, the Australian women will next take on Bangladesh on October 16th at the same venue in Visakhapatnam.
