Abhishek Sharma Rises 38 Places To Number 2 In ICC T2OI Batting Rankings

India's rising star, witnessed a career-high rankings in the T20I format as Abhishek Sharma, the explosive southpaw jumped a whopping 38 places to become the new number 2 ranked ICC T20I batter. Interestingly, he surpassed fellow teammate, Tilak Varma, who dropped down a place to number 3 as Indian youngsters dominate the charts.
Travis Head, the power-packed opener still occupies the top spot, but Abhishek is slowly and steadily closing in on him. The Indian opener smashed a whirlwind century in the 5th T20I against England and was duly rewarded by the ICC in their latest rankings.
Abhishek, was at his imperial best in the 5th T20I against the visiting England side as he smashed a 54-ball 135 laced with 13 sixes and scored more than the combined total of England. He broke several records including the highest individual score by an Indian batter in T20Is.
Tilak Varma drops down!
Tilak Varma was instrumental in India's win over England in the 2nd T20I, however, in the remaining games, he was below par and as a result, the southpaw dropped a place below to number 3 in the rankings. He became the number two ranked batter in the England T20Is only.
Chakravarthy witness surge in rankings
On the back of a stellar series against England, where Chakravarthy finished as the leading wicket-taker with 14 to his name, the wily spinner has jumped 3 places to joint number two in the bowlers' T20I rankings.
Currently, he has 705 rating points and has a great chance of displacing Akeal Hosein from the top spot as the West Indian spinner has 707 rating points.
