Abhishek Sharma is known for his aggressive batting at the top of the order, and he showed that in the first T20I with a magnificent fifty. However, the man has bettered that in the final T20I at the Wankhede and has smashed a century in just 37 balls, second fastest by an Indian after Rohit Sharma.

The left-handed batter slammed 10 magnificent sixes and five fours in his knock and it is the fastest century by any batter against England in T20Is. Also, Abhishek Sharma reached his century on the first ball of the 11th over,  and it is the earliest a batter has reached a century in a T20I innings, bettering Quinton de Kock's hundred against West Indies in 2023.

Abhishek Sharma's Onslaught Leaves England Helpless

Abhishek Sharma hit the first boundary of his innings in the third over, but once he hit that one, he followed it up with two consecutive sixes and never looked back. The batter hit English bowlers all over the park and got to his fifty in just 17 balls, second fastest after Yuvraj Singh. He carried on his onslaught in the middle overs after India smashed their highest-ever Powerplay score and kept belting both pacers and spinners.

At one point in time, it looked like he would beat Rohit Sharma's record of a century in 35 balls, but slowed down a bit and eventually reached the landmark in 37 balls. India lost Sanju Samson early in the innings, But Tilak Varma gave him good company after his wicket, Dube too blasted some massive sixes to keep India going at the Wankhede.
