India's search for backup all-rounder Hardik Pandya sees no end. Pandya remains a vital cog in India's white-ball setup, however, constant injuries to the player have jolted India's title aspirations multiple times.

Lately, several all-rounders such as Vijay Shankar, Venkatesh Iyer, and Shivam Dube have been unearthed in domestic cricket, who have performed well in the recent editions of IPL.

Dube, especially after having a stellar IPL 2023 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) found his way back into the national reckoning and was part of India's five T20I squad against Australia, but remained benched across the series.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has questioned the Indian think-tank over not giving players like Iyer, Dube, and Shankar chances at the international level.

Responding to a query on his YouTube channel regarding Pandya's backup, the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player stated that IPL won't do much for the trio, who rarely bowl given the new 'Impact Player' rule.

Here's Chopra said about Dube, Iyer, Shankar

"IPL could have done this job earlier. It's not going to do it now. Let's make peace with it that once the Impact Player rule has come, why will Shivam Dube, Venkatesh Iyer and Vijay Shankar get to bowl when you can play six bowlers?"

"So that's not going to happen, whether you like it or hate it. You should consistently keep doing it in bilateral series but you haven't done that. It's a trick missed. I am with you on this one."

Interestingly, none of the aforementioned all-rounders have been picked for India's South Africa tour across any format.
