Test retirement bound Australian opener David Warner took to social media to express his concerns for Chennai flood victims. The 2023 World Cup winner cautioned citizens to take necessary precautions, and urged abled citizens to help out those in need of immediate help and rescue. Taking to his Instagram account, he wrote:

"I’m deeply concerned about the ongoing floods affecting many areas in Chennai. My thoughts are with all those who are impacted by this natural disaster. It’s important for everyone to stay safe, seek higher ground if necessary. If you’re in a position to help, please consider supporting relief efforts or offering assistance to those in need. Let’s come together to support where we can."

The Tamil Nadu government has already issued an advisory urging for people to stay indoors, work from home, and avoid seeking shelter under trees in light of the current situation.

David Warner, meanwhile, is currently bracing himself for the upcoming three-match Test series against the visiting Pakistani troops ‘Down Under’. The matches also mark the final set of Test fixtures of Warner’s career, considering the 37-year-old has already picked January’s New Year’s Test in Sydney as his final red-ball match for Australia.

The first match of the series is set to commence on December 14 at the iconic Perth Stadium and the series constitutes a part of the ongoing 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

The dynamic Australian opening batsman recently took part in his side’s 2023 World Cup triumph in India. Citing fatigue, the cricketer subsequently distanced himself from the five-match T20I series against the hosts.
