Rahul Dravid's Unique Presentation - (X.com)
Indian legend Rahul Dravid got the perfect send-off as Men's head coach after he finally got his hands on a World Cup trophy following India's win over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 finals by seven runs in Barbados.
Times changed for Dravid, as he was the Indian captain when the Men in Blue faced an early exit in the 2007 World Cup in West Indies and guided India to a World Cup trophy in the same country after 17 years.
Several Indian stars congratulated Rahul for his future endeavours and thanked him for all the guidance in the past three years. In the latest events, Suryakumar Yadav revealed how Dravid made a PPT ahead of the finals to inject confidence into the players.
SKY revealed that Dravid made two graphs to highlight that players are the best judges to make the right call on the field. According to SKY, Dravid showcased the games played by the players versus the ones T20Is played by the supporting staff.
“He showed a graph of the number of T20I games the entire Indian team had played — from Virat bhai to Yashasvi Jaiswal (the most junior member). That number was 800-plus. And then he showed a second slide that had the number of games that the entire coaching staff, including Rahul bhai, had played — that number was 1,” said Suryakumar as quoted by HT.
SKY added that the intention behind the presentation was to tell players that they are the best judge to make the right call.
"He (Dravid) said to us, ‘You are the best judge here to make the right call at the right time. So leave every other thing to us, go out there and enjoy your game’,” he added.
India are yet to announce Dravid's successor but Gautam Gambhir and WV Raman are in contention to become India's next head coach.
