The Zimbabwe cricket team has shattered the world record for the highest-ever total in T20 International (T20I) cricket, posting a colossal 344/4 against the Gambia in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier Group B. The remarkable innings was powered by Sikandar Raza's unbeaten 133 off just 43 balls, which included seven boundaries and an astonishing 15 sixes.

The Indian cricket team, featuring young names, recently left the cricketing world in shock by posting the second highest T20I total when they scored 297/6 in a T20I contest against Bangladesh. Sanju Samson starred with a sublime century as an opener.

Zimbabwe enters record books for the second time

However, the Zimbabwe cricket team took it a notch higher to go all guns blazing in a Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier contest against Gambia. Zimbabwe's innings were aggressive from the outset, reaching a stunning 103/1 at the end of the powerplay, with opener Marumani scoring 62 off just 19 balls.

Later, captain Sikandar Raza joined forces to slam a phenomenal 33-ball century, which is tied for the second-fastest in T20I history. Brian Bennett also added 50 runs, and Clive Madande chipped in with an unbeaten fifty as Zimbabwe registered an incredible 27 sixes in their innings, breaking Nepal's record of 26 sixes from their 314/3 score against Mongolia in 2023.

The team's collective batting effort helped them surpass Nepal's previous T20I record total of 314/3 and India's recently set full-member nation record of 297/6 against Bangladesh. Notably, this feat comes only days after Zimbabwe set a previous high of 286/5 against Seychelles.

Raza rejects birth country Pakistan for Zimbabwe

In a heartwarming reply to a fan requesting him to play for Pakistan and resolve their middle-order issues, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza reaffirmed his loyalty to Zimbabwe. He says he is a product of Zimbabwe and will never ditch their unwavering faith. The belief and money Zimbabwe cricket has spent on Raza is too significant and holds special respect in the all-rounder's heart.
