Sanju Samson has perhaps played the innings of his life in the 3rd T20I vs Bangladesh in Hyderabad. On a pitch that was a paradise for the batters, the India opener took full advantage of the situation and brought up a scintillating ton to justify the backing he got.
The Rajasthan Royals skipper registered the three-figure mark in 40 deliveries as Bangladesh looked clueless in front or a rampant Sanju Samson. This was his maiden T20I century, and he already has an ODI century, which came up against South Africa in Paarl.
It is the second fastest century by an Indian in this format. The top position is still held by former T20I skipper, Rohit Sharma, who attained the feat in 35 deliveries.
This was a confident-looking Samson as he made his intentions clear, right from the word go. Despite losing Abhishek Sharma early, the opening batter continued the onslaught and reached the fifty run mark inside 22 balls, which was the fastest fifty scored against Bangladesh in this format.
Samson upped the ante once he reached the fifty-run mark, as he took only 18 deliveries to reach from 50 top 100. His breath-taking innings was laced with 11 fours and 8 sixes.
Suryakumar eyes his three-figure mark
Suryakumar Yadav, too, has joined the party as he looks to bring up his century. SKY already has 4 T20I tons to his name and could become the second Indian to score 5 centuries in this format.
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma also has 5 centuries in T20I format. SKY has struck at 209, and could attain greatness if he breaches the 100-run mark. At the moment, he is batting at 67.
