The India A cricket team, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, is set to assemble in Mumbai today as they prepare to depart for Australia ahead of their much-anticipated A tour, starting on October 31. As reported by TOI, Sitanshu Kotak, an experienced domestic coach, is likely to take the reins as the head coach of the junior team for this particular tour.

Before the highly anticipated five-game Test series between India and Australia, also known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, begins, India A, filled with junior players, will tour Australia for a four-day match series against Australia A. This tour will indeed test India's true bench strength.

India A to leave for Australia today

The tour will begin with the first four day game starting on October 31 in Mackay followed by a second game from November 7-10 in Melbourne. Once this is concluded, the India A squad will travel to Perth to feature in an intra squad practice game with the senior Indian team. This practice game is scheduled to ensure the senior team, led by Rohit Sharma, gets a hang of tricky Australian conditions.

Meanwhile, as per latest update shared by Sahil Malhotra of TOI, India A squad will assemble in Mumbai today and will depart for Australia late night. Moreover, Sitanshu Kotak, the NCA coach, will accompany the team as head coach. He previously also served as a coach for the senior team in the absence of a regular coaching setup.

Notably, the India A team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, with Abhimanyu Easwaran being his deputy. Both openers could also be in contention for the BGT series since Rohit Sharma is rumoured to make himself unavailable for one Test.
