In a historic moment for Bengal cricket, 15-year-old Ankit Chatterjee made his Ranji Trophy debut, shattering legendary cricketer Sourav Ganguly's record. Ganguly had made his first-class debut at the age of 17 during the 1989-90 Ranji Trophy final.
Ankit, a 10th-grade student at Bangaon High School, has been making waves in age-group cricket. He represents Shyambazar Club, which is over 75 kilometers away from his school. His impressive performance earned him a spot in the playing XI for Bengal against Haryana at the age of 15 years and 361 days.
Who Is The Youngest Player To Debut In Ranji Trophy?
At just 12 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made history by becoming the youngest player to debut in the Ranji Trophy. Representing Bihar, Vaibhav broke records previously held by cricket legends Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar.
