Sydney Sixers will meet Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 Challenger. The match will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney on January 23. With a spot in the Grand Final up for grabs, both teams will bring their A-game to this high-stakes match.

The Sixers narrowly missed a direct ticket to the final after losing to the Hobart Hurricanes by 12 runs in the Qualifier. Despite a solid bowling effort led by Ben Dwarshuis (2/34) and Jafer Chohan (2 wickets), the Sixers struggled in their chase of 173. Top-order failures from Josh Philippe and Jack Edwards (both dismissed for ducks) and skipper Moises Henriques (1) left them reeling.

Although Kurtis Patterson (48) and Jordan Silk (57) provided hope, the team ultimately fell short. To beat the Thunder, the Sixers’ batters must deliver under pressure.

The Thunder are on a high after a thrilling 21-run win over the Melbourne Stars in the Knockout. Though their batters struggled, posting just 135/7, their bowlers turned the game around. Nathan McAndrew delivered a sensational spell, taking 5/16, supported by Tom Andrews and Tanveer Sangha with two wickets each.
