It’s a significant win for UP! Securing their first points of the season, they’ve showcased their dominance by thoroughly outplaying the defending champions. In a clash between the captains from Australia and England, it’s Alyssa Healy’s team that emerged victorious. Mumbai Indians Women faced their first defeat of the season, and unfortunately, they were simply not at their best in this match.

In the earlier part of the game, Mumbai Indians Women posted a competitive total on the scoreboard, led by a splendid fifty from Hayley Matthews. Supported by valuable contributions from players like Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar, and Issy Wong towards the end, they managed to set up a challenging target for UP.

UP’s bowlers performed well as a unit, with each of them chipping in with one wicket apiece. However, during the chase, it was the Kiran Navgire-show that stole the spotlight, making the run chase appear effortless. Despite facing a stumble in the middle overs, UP’s middle-order batters ensured a smooth finish, securing the win for their team.

UP got off to a blazing start with Kiran Navgire leading the charge right from the beginning. Her aggressive approach as the opening batter paid off significantly for UP, with Alyssa Healy providing solid support from the other end. Navgire’s batting display was a delight to watch as she effortlessly dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground.

UP recorded the highest Powerplay score of the season, with Navgire also reaching a well-deserved half-century. However, her dismissal after scoring a brisk 54 off just 31 balls marked a crucial breakthrough, despite the openers adding a formidable 94-run partnership.

Kiran Navgire was particularly harsh on the spinners. She scored at a strike rate of nearly 200 against the spinners. The spinners being the mainstay of the MI bowling attack, Navgire's onslaught left them stunned.

Conclusion

Before this Navgire was used lower down the order and she was not able to find the right rhythm with the bat. However, in the game against the Mumbai Indians, Navgire enjoyed the new and hard ball and also the fielding restrictions in the first six overs.

Her explosive batting also allowed Healy to find her form with the bat. The role that Navgire played has established her as the opener for the team. Her aggressive approach at the top-order will provide more depth and flexibility to the team's batting line-up in the upcoming games.
