On Monday, February 10, South Africa locked horns against New Zealand in the second match of the ongoing tri-nation series at Gaddafi Stadium. The Kiwis produced a brilliant show, and beat the Proteas by six wickets and chased down 305 runs in 48 overs to reach the final.

The Proteas, batting first, put 304 runs on the board courtesy of Matthew Breetzke's century. However, Kane Williamson overshadowed that knock and smashed his 14th ODI century. The right-hand batter played a valuable knock of an unbeaten 133 (113), which featured 13 fours and two sixes.

The knock was extra special as it came at a quick speed and the Kiwi took just 72 balls. It then made the fans shift their focus to IPL, which begins in a month. It is worth noting that Williamson went unsold in the mega-auction and given the kind of form he is, teams might look to target him as a replacement. This article will shed light on three IPL teams who can buy Williamson as a replacement.

1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Williamson can be a great fit for RCB as they have a history of a struggle of middle-order batters. Williamson can feature for the Challengers as Jacob Bethell has been ruled out of Champions Trophy due to hamstring injury.

Thus, in case Bethell fails to make it in time for IPL, then RCB can have Williamson in their plans and replace him with the English star in the middle-order to bring that stability as Kane can play an anchor role and also don the aggressive hat when required.

2. Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants are also sweating hard over Mitchell Marsh's injury as back injuries can make any team nervous. The Australian all-rounder is struggling for runs and the Super Giants can look at this opportunity to further strengthen their batting unit.

Notably, Williamson also featured for Super Giants' SA20 franchise DSG, where he played a crucial part and scored 233 runs in seven innings and averaged 46.

3. Chennai Super Kings

Unlike other teams, CSK aren't dealing any injury issues. However, the Men in Yellow have a thing for New Zealand cricketers, which makes Williamson's case strong to be a part of Super Kings' squad for IPL 2025 in case a replacement is required.

At present, they have Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra in the team, and since New Zealand have international duties in the latter half of the IPL and Ravindra is coming off a nasty blow to Forehead, having Williamson in the team and at the top won't be a bad option.
