There is a slight possibility that Suryakumar Yadav and Shardul Thakur might find themselves back on the Indian side for the England tour later this year. This is because both of them have performed exceptionally well in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Quarter-final game against Haryana while playing for Mumbai.

Shardul Rocks Haryana With A Six-Fer

In the ongoing match against Haryana, Mumbai scored 315 in their first innings as they were bowled out in 88.2 overs. However, in reply, Haryana started well with their chase, losing their first wicket for 87 and then their second wicket for 168 as they looked set to breach the 315-run mark set by Mumbai.

But, in came the Indian fast-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who, with his swinging deliveries, rocked the Haryana side with a six-wicket haul in his 18.5-over spell, giving away just 58 runs. Shardul ran riot against the opposition as he pulled his team into the contest, decimating Haryana batters with his outstanding deliveries.

His excellent spell helped Mumbai bowl out Haryana for 301, holding them 14 runs short of the target.

Surya's 70 Sinks The Opposition

Mumbai were 14 runs ahead of their opposition's score, but they still needed a good total to get them back into the contest as day three was on. Therefore, to the rescue was skipper Ajinkya Rahane, with his brilliant 88*, who was still at the crease by the end of the day.

But, the focus was on Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who played an outstanding knock of 70 off just 86 deliveries, with eight fours and two sixes to his name. He was fantastic with his high back lift and was proactive from the beginning of his innings, finding his groove against spinners while employing his defensive shots.

Surya, who has not found his roots so far in the red ball format, is putting up shows to stake a claim for the English tour later this year. Surya's 70 was a display of his class and his skill set in playing red-ball cricket. Additionally, Shivam Dube, who batted till the end of the day, was unbeaten on 30 off 41 deliveries, with a four, while at the other end was Rahane on 88*.

By the culmination of the day, Mumbai were 278 for four after completing 67 overs, as they maintained the lead of 292 runs by stumps on day three. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top by the end of day four when play resumes tomorrow.
