Will Jacks In, Sam Curran Out? England's Probable XI For T20 WC Super 8 Match Vs WI

Two-time T20 World Cup champions, West Indies and England, are set to lock horns in one of the most high-profile matches of the Super Eights stage at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet, in Saint Lucia on Thursday, June 20.

All eyes will be on the defending champions, England, as they seek a fresh start in the Super 8s by securing a victory against one of the tournament favourites, West Indies.

Journey so far

England will aim to regroup after narrowly advancing from the group stages. Their batting has been subpar, with key players like Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow yet to make substantial contributions. This failure to fire has prevented the team from posting big scores.

Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone have also struggled to make meaningful impacts with the bat. Despite some positive signs in the match against Namibia, it isn't enough to instil confidence in England's batting lineup.

The approach from the batters has been inconsistent, with poorly timed risk-taking undermining their efforts.

England has struggled to contain runs, even against teams like Scotland, and will face an even greater challenge against the powerful and in-form West Indies batting lineup in the upcoming match.

Wood to replace Jordan

The match will take place at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. Having previously played in Barbados and Antigua, England will need to adjust their strategy to suit the conditions in St. Lucia, which is a new venue for them.

Throughout the tournament, they have made tactical changes to their playing XI based on pitch assessments and are expected to continue this approach.

The St. Lucia wicket is generally batting-friendly, with two of the three 200+ totals in this competition posted here. With two batting-heavy teams going head-to-head, a high-scoring contest is likely.

England is expected to make two changes from their last game against Namibia. Mark Wood is likely to replace Chris Jordan, and Will Jacks may come in for Sam Curran.

Reece Topley is expected to keep his place in the team, considering how the West Indies batters struggled against the left-arm angle of Trent Boult. Given the batting-friendly conditions, Will Jacks might return to the number three spot for the defending champions.
