The Australian team is facing South Africa in the final of the WTC 2025 Final at the Lord's in London. South Africa won the toss and put Australia to bat. The Australian team with their strong batting line up might have hoped for a solid start to build the foundation for a formidable total.
However, this did not happen and instead, the South African bowlers led by Kagiso Rabada dismantled the top order and put the defending champions under pressure. The battle between bat and ball is intensifying at the 'Home of Cricket' and the Indian team who will soon be touring England, have something to learn from this serious battle.
Things To Learn From The South African Bowlers In WTC 2025 Final
The prime destructors of the Australian top order in the final were Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada. The line and length that the two bowlers and the strategy they adapted is something the Indian bowlers should observe closely and probably follow during the upcoming England tour.
Consistency: One of the best things about the South African attack was the consistent line and length they hit at the beginning of the match. Jansen went about bowling his regular just short of a good length area and held the off-stump line mostly.
On the other hand, Rabada while bowled a touch fuller and wider, brought in occasional variation. This consistency forced the Australian top-order batters to be on the defensive and did not allow them the freedom to run away with the momentum.
When the Indian team tours England later in the month, the bowlers need to concentrate on maintaining consistency in their line and length and be aggressive irrespective of the result. The English batters are naturally aggressive and if the Indian bowlers can push them on the defensive at the very beginning it might help the Shubman Gill-led side to seize the momentum.

Testing The Technique Of The Batters: The dismissal of Usman Khawaja, Cameron Green and Marnus Labuschagne are great examples of how Jansen and Rabada tested the technique of the batters.
While Khawaja and Labuschagne were done by the angle of the delivery, Cameron Green was the prey of lazy foot movement. The subtle change of angles forced Khawaja and Labuschagne to push at the deliveries that were going away from them simply based on the line and angle.
On the other hand, Green was nicely set up on tad shorter deliveries followed by a full delivery shaping away from the batter.
The three dismissals are for lessons to be taken by the Indian bowlers. Working the angles, using the variations but not overdoing them to keep the surprise alive and the homework to expose the technique of individual batters is something the Indian unit needs to observe and learn.
Conclusion
Indian team is on the brink of a transition and rebuilding phase. The new leader of the unit, Shubman Gill will have his work cut out as he needs to understand the strengths of his team and also work on the weaknesses of the opposition. The WTC Final could provide the new Indian skipper and the think tank with a good learning curve. Observing the match and having an idea of what could come in the upcoming tour can give them an edge.
