In the 70th IPL 2024 encounter, Rajasthan Royals are all set to take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. However, ahead of the crucial clash, rain has encountered the venue, delaying the proceedings including the all-important toss. 

Led by Sanju Samson, the Royals have blown hot and cold in the competition, winning eight of their thirteen group-stage fixtures. 

They had a dream start to the tournament, securing eight clinical wins in their first nine games. However, things have only gone downhill for the Royals since then as they have incurred four consecutive defeats. 

Therefore, this match holds paramount importance for the hosts as they would be desperate for a win to ensure a top two finish. 

Meanwhile, if it continues to pour down in Guwahati and the game gets abandoned, the Royals will finish the group stage with 17 points, equalling with Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

However, as SRH have a superior Net Run Rate, they will remain at the second position which they claimed following their emphatic victory over Punjab Kings earlier in the day. 

Therefore, if the RR vs KKR match gets washed out, RCB will face RR in the eliminator, with SRH taking on KKR in the Qualifier 1.
