Mumbai Indians veteran Rohit Sharma took to his social media account this past weekend to launch a scathing attack on IPL 2024 broadcasters, the Star Sports network. The cricketer condemned the network for breaching his privacy on the field while he was having a candid chat with KKR’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar on May 11.
Sharma claimed that even though he asked Star Sports to not record his conversation with Nayar, they ended up doing so and even played it on air.
In a separate incident in the same month, the Mumbai Indians opener hilariously requested a Star Sports cameraman to turn off the audio while he was having a conversation with teammate Dhawal Kulkarni.
In light of the recent controversy between Rohit Sharma and the IPL 2024 broadcasters, Virat Kohli’s interesting take from 2017 involving the privacy of the cricketers has been making rounds on social media off late.
When Kohli joked about invasion of player’s privacy
During an interaction with Gaurav Kapur on the latter’s ‘Breakfast with Champions’ show in November 2017, Virat Kohli jokingly claimed that he has discreetly developed a “sense” that helps him become aware of his surroundings whenever a fan is capturing his photo or a video without taking consent.
Kohli added that fans often surround him just to catch a glimpse, even when he is having a meal either outside or inside the field.
Regardless, Rohit Sharma’s controversy with Star Sports has gained much traction, considering the former Mumbai Indians skipper was having a seemingly private conversation regarding his past history with the franchise.
