On Wednesday, Pakistan will cross swords against England in the first T20I of the upcoming four-match series at Headingley, Leeds. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan recently recorded a two-one series win over Ireland and would be keen to kickstart this series with a victory.

Meanwhile, the Men in Green have several concerns ahead of the series opener, including the poor form of spin-bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan and ace speedster Mohammad Amir.

After receiving a recall to the national T20I team, Amir looked completely off-colour in the Ireland T20Is. Despite getting regular opportunities in the playing XI, the left-arm seamer managed only two wickets, conceding 76 runs off eight overs in the Ireland series.

Furthermore, as Pakistan already has two high-quality new-ball operators- Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah- in the squad, bringing in a proper spinner like Abrar Ahmed will be more beneficial for them.

In all likelihood, Saim Ayub will open the batting alongside Mohammad Rizwan, who played an instrumental role in Pakistan's magnificent fightback against Ireland.

Skipper Babar Azam will anchor the innings at number three, with Fakhar Zaman, Azam Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed playing as the middle-order batters.

Imad Wasim could be the solitary all-rounder in Pakistan's playing XI for this game, with Shaheen Afridi, Abbas Afridi and Naseem Shah likely being preferred as the three seamers.
